Marshawn Lynch Could Retire In Offseason

Dec 15, 2014 4:18 PM

Marshawn Lynch is contemplating retiring at the end of the current season, according to sources familiar with his thinking.

Lynch faces an uncertain future with the Seattle Seahawks.

Several sources have previously said that Lynch is not expected to be back with the Seahawks next season due to his $5 million salary and the front office's desire to rework the locker room around Russell Wilson.

If Tom Cable gets a head coaching job, Lynch could follow him to that destination due to the strong relationship they've built.

Lynch told two teammates last year that he might retire if the Seahawks were to win the Super Bowl.

Lynch has missed just one game over the past four seasons, but he's battled back pain throughout.

Ray Rice Wins Appeal, Reinstated To NFL

Nov 30, 2014 1:39 PM

Ray Rice has won his appeal of an indefinite suspension and has been reinstated to the NFL.

Rice is now eligible to sign with any NFL team.

"I would like to thank Judge Barbara Jones, the NFL Players Association, my attorneys, agents, advisors, family, friends and fans -- but most importantly, my wife Janay," Rice said in a statement released by the NFLPA on Friday. "I made an inexcusable mistake and accept full responsibility for my actions.

"I am thankful that there was a proper appeals process in place to address this issue. I will continue working hard to improve myself and be the best husband, father and friend, while giving back to my community and helping others to learn from my mistakes."

Charles Woodson Would Like To Play In 2015

Nov 28, 2014 10:55 AM

Charles Woodson would like to keep playing in 2015 if he remains healthy.

"No question," Woodson said Wednesday. "I feel great. Why that is, I have no clue. I'll play this season out and we'll see what happens after that.

Woodson is 38 and has had an excellent season as he's tied for the team lead in tackles and was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

"The funny thing is I never thought about getting to 17 [seasons]," Woodson said. "I'm not thinking about going into the 40s but I don't know. I'm playing well. If we're just comparing to other safeties or DBs in the league, I think I would fare pretty well in that respect. And I'm having fun playing."

Zimmer Believes Adrian Peterson Will Return To Vikings In 2015

Nov 24, 2014 2:12 PM

Mike Zimmer believes Adrian Peterson will return to the Minnesota Vikings when he's reinstated from his suspension.

"I think Adrian wants to be back here," Zimmer told ESPN. "You have to ask him. I don't know. But I know he does have an awful lot of people here who have supported him, and I don't know who he's speaking of who doesn't.

"All I know of Adrian is that he's always been great with me, always done what I've asked him to do, and I kind of go by what I see."

Peterson hinted in an interview that the Vikings haven't been supportive and that a fresh start with a new team might make sense.

"I know there's people in the organization that support me and there's people that I know internally that has not been supporting me," Peterson told USA Today Sports. "Maybe it's best for me to get a fresh start somewhere else."

League sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that Peterson was referring to Vikings general counsel Kevin Warren as the individual who wasn't in favor of his return.

Sources familiar with the case also told Schefter that that Warren and the NFL have been working together to make sure Peterson does not return this season.

Colts Sign Josh Cribbs To Protect Herron Against Kickoffs

Dec 3, 2014 6:37 PM

The Indianapolis Colts have signed Josh Cribbs.

The running back situation is impacted by the signing of Cribbs. Daniel “Boom” Herron, the Colts’ new No. 2 running back with Ahmad Bradshaw out with a fractured fibula, has returned kicks at times this season. The Colts can’t afford to put him back there now considering their lack at depth at running back.
